Hell In A Handbasket

Cincinnati's Only Subculture Zine

Come on, it shouldn't be this damn difficult, then again we've been relying solely on Craigslist up to this point. Anyone here a drummer, or know a drummer, that interested in practicing twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays, but we're flexible) in Camp Washington? Most of the time you don't even need your own kit. As long as you're not an ass, there's a kit at the practice spot that another [VERY good] local band is letting us use. You just need to bring your own snare and sticks. If it helps, I can lend you a snare, but at least bring your own sticks, m'kay?

Sound is turning out to be a mix:

70% sort of like Murder City Devils (EX: "Idle Hands" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgEvSvOAmMU)
15% like later Pennywise (EX: "Enemy" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_Cz4NB-ZYs)
10% early Fugazi (EX: "Margin Walker" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRnP5SODav4)
Then the remaining 5% is a tad Misfits, Helmet, Germs, Agent Orange, Stooges, etc.

*POINT OF NOTE*: The above is listed only as a rough guidleline as to where we are now. We are not looking for someone to just fill an empty spot; we actually want you to contribute. :) We might end up all AC-DC or something with your influence. Ok, maybe not AC-DC... Eww.

P.S. - We has talked about adding an organist to the mix too. Not that one could find an organist in the Cincinnati area, but should the stars actually align, I didn't want the idea to be completely alien to you. ;)

Dave- I thought that offer stood for the rockabilly thing we were tossing around the idea of putting together. We ended up going in a different direction, so I didn't think you'd still be down. Let me know how you feel about the above description/influences and let me know :)

Hey my buddy Max used to play in Forget About It. He's looking for something to do for sure. He's real good. Here's his number...859-814-1969

Well we've changed direction once more, but only slightly and this one has stuck (two songs now). We have a drummer that is sitting in ATM, but we're still looking. Also, if there re any females on here that can play keys/synth to add some atmosphere and some backing vocals that would rawk.

We've already a decent start and a couple of tracks recorded. We have a rented practice spot near Clifton, and all of us are dedicated to practicing at least twice a week. That being said, we are in this to have fun and for it serve as a creative outlet. We are not looking to be rock-stars or the next big thing, nor are we interested in touring all over to try and get there. What we are interested in is playing out regionally and seeing where things go from there. We also have the resources necessary to move things along in a DIY fashion; screen-printing, web-hosting, local music contacts, and a few of us have full-time careers to help ($$).

Our sound has one foot in late 70's punk (ala TSOL, Germs, Screamers) and the other foot firmly in early 80's post-punk (ala Joy Division, early Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees). We are currently looking to possibly add the versatility of keyboards (and if that includes female backing vocals, all the better), and a drummer as well.

Pretty much. the wormwood is what gives the "opiate" effect. Otherwise its just really bad tasting alcohol. Absinthe in the U.S. must be Thujone Free to be approved by the FDA. Thujone is the chemical that comes from wormwood.

Is the fake absinthe just alcohol? I had the real stuff years ago. It was made by the friend of a girlfriend. He was a kind of wizard alchemist. It was kind of opiate like.

I'll be honest: I don't like absynthe. I've had it prepared the "proper" way, and I still don't like it. Feel free to revoke my cool card.
