Our favorite fiends are coming back to the Southgate House on the 27th. The last show was suprisingly awesome so my son and I will be at the upcoming show without a doubt. Any other Hellions planning on going? It'll make for one helluva Handbasket field trip!
Reply here or send me a message and we'll hookup at the show.
Hate? Damn dude, have you listened to them in 20 years? I had reservations when the new Misfits formed but American Psycho and Famous Monsters are incredible. Ever since, I've been hooked. When Jerry Only took over vocals I was worried again, but he stole the show at SG house last time.
I used to be one of the Danzig or nothing guys, but in the last 15 years Jerry has taken the ball and run with it, while Glenn is content to sulk and bitch... and put out pretty crappy music. I'm just saying... if you're a Misfits fan,, if you truly love the music, the new band wont let you down.
But... to each there own. Sorry I went off for a minute, but that argument always bothered me.
music is good lets you vent your anger in discussions :) and nah not hate i mean danzig was badass in my opinion but graves did well i thought for awhile there maybe ill go see them i havent listened to them in 6 or 7 years
I will go. I am looking forward to it. I enjoy both Danzig Era and the Newfits. The new stuff is good but falls way short of the old. The evilnocity of the old has yet to be recaptured by the new clan. You know like what you find on Earth Ad. But nevertheless I am going. Very rarely does a band come through town in which I know every word and dont feel like a jerk singing along to. See you there Mr.Rob. They did butcher American Nightmare last time though.

Sadly I stand on the side of the fence where I don't care too much to see Jerry Only. And Im not even a die-hard Danzig fan, Im a Graves Girl all the way. In my personal opinion I kinda think Only is beating a dead horse. I may attend I may not. But as a very loyal fan of the two older line-ups I would just feel as though I was being shorted.
Here's my take on Jerry. The original line-up disbanded in 1983... think about that. It's a helluva long time ago (before allot of fans we're even born). Jerry is a huge reason why allot of people even know who the Misfits are. Not only that, he started the band with Glenn and his been the only consistent member for over 30 years.
Glenn was content to leave the Misifts and do his own thing, Jerry took over and kept the fiend club alive for 3 decades. For that I'm grateful, because I love this band and their music. I've seen the Misfits with Gwar, with Social Distortion and many others and these were some of the best concerts I've ever seen. Without Jerry, those memories would not exsist.
The fact is, without Jerrys perseverance none of us would ever have seen the Misfits in concert. They only exsisted for 6 years and barely made it out of Jersey to tour.
With that said, I respect everyone's opinion on the matter. It was fun talking about. For those atteneding, I'll cya in a couple of weeks!
Rob
Oh and Dave, as long as they play 'Dig Up Her Bones', I'm a happy guy!
Well said, Big Rob! Your points are excellent! Say what you will about Jerry, but he's nothing if not persistent in keeping the Misfits memory alive! I'm sorry to you purists out there, but it's true. And I respect that.
With that said, however, we'll be skipping out on this month's show. We've seen them for the last two go-rounds (once in Louisville in '07 and once last year at the Southgate). I think we'll be fine not seeing them this time... there's always next year ;)
I should also add that I'm a HUGE fan of Jerry's other band, the punk supergroup Osaka Popstar. I would sell one of my kidney's if they'd play here.... :)

absinthe aint worth it it was going for 300 somethin for the king gold bottles but its prob cheaper now with xmas and all that smaller bottles are like 40 to 70 bucks just go with moonshine or something like that
Pretty much. the wormwood is what gives the "opiate" effect. Otherwise its just really bad tasting alcohol.
Absinthe in the U.S. must be Thujone Free to be approved by the FDA. Thujone is the chemical that comes from wormwood.
Is the fake absinthe just alcohol?
I had the real stuff years ago. It was made by the friend of a girlfriend. He was a kind of wizard alchemist. It was kind of opiate like.
Love this post.
